Hedge woundwort (Stachys sylvatica)
Collins, 212 Readers Digest,
This is an upright, hairy plant with large stems borne in opposing pairs. It favours grassy areas and flowers from July to August. The flower heads are pretty toothed purple blooms and each flower has concave upper lips and three lobed white-marked lower lips, making it on close examination, an extremely attractive flower. Greek mythology has it that Woundwort was used to treat wounds and stem bleeding.
