Herb robert (Geranium robertianum)

Collins, 142; Readers Digest, 103

One of the Geranium family this pinkish red flower blooms from spring all through summer.  It prefers shady, rocky soils and is very abundant in this region.   The hairy stems and leaves turn an orange-red in late summer and autumn.  The plant was used in medieval times for the treatment of blood disorders.  The name may be derived from Robert an early Duke of Normandy and is also known as ‘Stinking Bob’ from the unpleasant odour produced by its leaves.
